Award-Winning Gateway Businesses
The Gateway’s members are constantly working hard to develop and improve their businesses, as well as continuing to make an impact in the community and beyond. Our members are some of the most dedicated and experienced businesses in the area, and we want to recognize our members for all that they’ve accomplished so far in 2015.
On June 29, CH2M was recognized as one of the Outstanding Members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Poland. They were awarded Honorary Medals of Merit for Economic Development of the Republic of Poland for their “remarkable achievements in the field of innovation, industry promotion, research and development, and introduction of effective methods of management.”
Collins Engineers Inc. was awarded with an honor at the Daily Reporter’s Top Projects of 2014 Award Dinner & Presentation for their work on the USH 41/29 System Interchange project in Green Bay, WI. Collins was responsible for the design of 41 full span sign bridges, 4 full span with cantilever combination sign bridges, 6 cantilever sign bridges, 4 butterfly sign bridges and 68 overhead sign supports as part of the USH 41 reconstruction.
Hunzinger Construction Company was named a Top Workplace by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for the 4th year in a row in 2015. As Kevin O’Toole, Executive Vice President puts it: “To consistently be recognized as a Top Workplace requires a dedicated effort and constant momentum to improve customer relationships and workplace dynamics, and it is satisfying to know that our team is up to that challenge.”
Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) was one of only 8 Wisconsin colleges and the only 2-year college in the state to receive the Community Engagement Classification from Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. “The classification recognizes the college’s mission to engage with our community partners…Incorporating service learning into our academic curriculum enriches the overall experience for MATC students and prepares them to have an impact in the communities in which they live and work” says Dr. Vicki J. Martin, MATC President.
Reliable Plating Works and Elite Finishing LLC were named two of the best finishing shops in the U.S., according to an industry benchmarking survey conducted by Products Finishing magazine. Tim Pennington, editor of Products Finishing magazine, says that “The criteria we used was very stringent, and only the finishing shops that excelled in all four areas made the list. RPW and Elite are in rare air when it comes to finishing operations.”
Roofed Right America LLC was awarded the 2015 MMAC Future 50 award, which recognizes privately-owned companies in Milwaukee that have been in business for at least 3 years, and have shown significant revenue and employment growth.
On May 20, Bryan Simon, along with Samer Abulughod, Jim Tarantino, Dawn Riegel, & Alderman Witkowski, received a Mayor’s Design Award for the Green Corridor. And, on April 15, Bryan, along with a group from HOME GR/OWN Milwaukee, was presented with the Brewers Community Foundation Public Space Award at the MANDI (Milwaukee Awards for Neighborhood Development Innovation) Awards for their work on Ezekiel Gillespie Park.
VJS Construction Services was recognized with 3 Top Projects of 2014 awards from the Daily Reporter. The projects that received this award were the Avenir Apartments in Milwaukee’s Park East Corridor, West Bend School District’s Silverbrook Intermediate School, and the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory Greenhouses. These projects “met and exceeded expectations” during their construction.
