A rain garden including 10,000 plants was dedicated Wednesday afternoon at Holler Park.
Milwaukee Ald. Terry Witkowski planned to join the Airport Gateway Milwaukee Business Association, the Garden District Association and Holler Park Neighborhood Association at 5151 S. 6th St. for the 11 a.m. event.
Residents and investors will be taught how to reduce storm water from creating ponds in their backyards and in their local parks, Witkowski said Wednesday.
The dedication is part of an event to promote Gateway to Milwaukee, which city officials said involves the vibrant business and residential areas near Mitchell International Airport.
The rain garden project was supported with a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency grant through the City of Milwaukee and the Garden District. Witkowski’s office noted that it is a key part of the redevelopment efforts surrounding the Gateway to Milwaukee.
