Gateway to Milwaukee

The Gateway Exhibiting at the ICSC show in Las Vegas

24th May 2010

An estimated 25,000 people are attending the 3-day conference that began yesterday.  The Gateway To Milwaukee with collaboration from Cudahy, Franklin, Greenfield, Milwaukee, Oak Creek and South Milwaukee has a booth exhibit along with over 500 other vendors.  Taking turns pulling “booth duty” are Tom Rave and Scott Yauck from The Gateway, Lara Fritts from Cudahy, Ken Skowronski from Franklin, Rhonda Manuel and Deshea Agee from Milwaukee, Doug Seymour from Franklin and Danielle Devlin from South Milwaukee.  When not in the booth, some are attending educational sessions and others are ciruclating the exhibit halls to find developers to whom we can introduce The Gateway To Milwaukee and our aerotropolis economic development approach.

The booth itself has photos and key information of the 8 municipalities that are part of Milwaukee’s Gateway Aerotropolis that include the six above plus Greendale and St. Francis, photos that show the existing capabilities of The Gateway’s transportation hub that includes planes, trains, ships, roadways, exporting and people, plus more specific information about the six cities that are helping to finance this effort.

Yesterday we handed out over 200 of The Gateway’s new brochure that creatively and effectively displays The Gateway area, features and attractiveness.

Based on feedback from conversations, we are definitely achieving our goal of introducing The Gateway and its collaborative effort to develop an aerotropolis where new retail developments will play a role in successfully growing the Milwaukee region.

Most attendees have not heard of the aerotropolis concept but find it intersting and quite sensible.  We’ve received many positive comments about this approach and some interest in following our developments.  We are defintitely achieving our goal of introducing The Gateway To Milwaukee and its collaborative effort to develop an aerotroplis concept where we will want new retail developments and stores as a key part of successfully growing the Milwaukee region.
