Programs and Services
The Gateway to Milwaukee’s programs and services fall into these distinct categories as part of the Gateway’s marketing plan:
Marketing / Advertising:
Will promote the benefits of the Gateway area as an important community asset with its unique and convenient places to dine, relax, play and stay for residents and visitors throughout greater Milwaukee.
Some successful marketing programs include The Gateway To Milwaukee web site plus the paper and interactive map and visitor guide, on-line advertising and sponsorships by AGBA members, billboards, identity articles, networking and community events plus other general marketing efforts.
Beautification:
Will maintain an attractive and welcoming environment within the Gateway area with median plantings, landscaping projects, streetlight banners, refuse receptacles and supporting the Garden District of Milwaukee.
Security:
Be an advocate for the interests of the Gateway’s businesses and property owners by collaborating with businesses and coordinating with law enforcement agencies to provide patrols to help provide safe and secure places for the Gateway’s visitors.
Government Relations:
The Gateway has a number of working relationships among governmental entities including:
. Milwaukee County Supervisor for the 14th District
· The City of Milwaukee’s alderperson in the 13th District
· An Economic Development Specialist of the City’s Department City Development
· Two seats on the City’s Southeast Side Comprehensive Plan group
· The Director of Milwaukee County’s Economic & Community Development Division
· The Marketing/Public Relations Manager of General Mitchell International Airport
· Various persons of the State’s Department of Transportation
These relationships facilitate mutual support on ideas to improve the Gateway area and favorable impact government direction.
In particular, for the Gateway’s benefit AGBA has been actively involved with the plans for the I-94 Reconstruction Project so that the Layton Avenue ramps will remain open, the Airport spur will reflect the Gateway’s developments and the Gateway area will be the first area for improvements once the reconstruction begins.
